Looks good in the day, probably as good as can be done nowadays (except retrofitting to SON if the bowl is wide enough to not overheat). Hope they have a stash of spare lanterns for the occasional weather/corrosion damage cases

Would you prefer a "vintage" wicked LED filament thing with same length as a proper SOX ?

Back before they started going the same way as SOX (and any other lamp not LED) I would have always suggested converting a SOX lantern to PL-L. A 36W lamp is very similar in length to a 55W SOX lamp and would work almost perfectly with the lantern's optics designed for SOX.
