LED Lightpack: After :)
Ahhhhhh, that's better. Proper conversion to magnetic control gear :)
I was going to use some nice big chunky Helvar L36 chokes but as they have been fitted and removed from a couple of fittings the spring contacts holding the wires in place were a bit loose so I elected to fit some Tridonic EC36's instead.

As there are no starter holes I have instead fitted some very nice Thorn Vivatronic electronic starting units which give a nice rumble from the chokes during preheat :)

Oh and I swapped the naff Y shaped lampholders to some proper straight side-by-side ones which I just think looks miles better on a twin fluorescent batten.

I now have probably the Only Vivatronic LPH Lightpack in the world :)

Excellent job Sir! This looks the business. I know that not everyone is that keen on Vivatronic gear, but I quite like it, especially the unmistakable sound it makes when power is applied! Cool

Very Happy

That's the light pack i know ! Very Happy Only the keyhole screws are missing

I like PerfectStart (that's our version of built in electronic starter gear), allthough i never seen that in a Lightpack, so the Vivatronic is close. (except the PerfectStart preheats like a Pulsestarter, without the halfwave DC loud preheating)

Excellent work, this looks the biz! Where did you get this from might I ask? I've literally just been thinking I need a decent 4ft twin fitting and I now have some pull to release T12 'V' Fitzy lamp holders spare after I've just scrapped a rotten 8-footer
Slyspark   [20 Feb, 2019 at 12:44 AM]
Ah, I did this to a 4' fitzy twin, but with SRS gear recently!

eBay. This was the listing I used: 182913966835 but it looks like the twins are out of stock. Doesn't matter if you have some nice twin holders already I suppose. Looks like there are other sellers selling the same thing. Was well packed, double boxed in thick cardboard.

Nice job, the green police’s nightmare Cool

Brilliant conversion.

I’ve actually got a couple of HF Thorlux fittings somewhere which could be done too... Those have so much space inside I could probably fit it’s own power station inside...

Or make an exceptionally ultra lowloss version with 2 80W Mercury ballasts in series for one 40W tube ? (i guess that would be driving it about right ?)

Brill job. Nice conversion!

I might actually install this soon... but I'll be putting in a Philips 2 x 36w HF Performer! Shocked Laughing
Beta 5   [09 Apr, 2024 at 04:24 PM]
Nice to put it into service, why the change to HF?
FrontSideBus   [09 Apr, 2024 at 04:44 PM]
High mains voltage. Chokes get smoking hot on 250v.
Beta 5   [09 Apr, 2024 at 05:34 PM]
Fair enough, nothing wrong with using a decent HF anyway, still fluorescent and very much serviceable! Will you still be running T12's on it?
FrontSideBus   [09 Apr, 2024 at 06:19 PM]
Probably some triphos T8's. I'm going to be ordering 12 36w osrams from CP soon heh.

Quality electronic ballasts are 100-240V usually.
Beta 5   [09 Apr, 2024 at 08:22 PM]
Might as well get them while you still can! Triphosphor is nice and bright, would also be interesting to see how well a modern Philips/Signify HF-P does compared with the older ones, assuming they have still kept up the quality they were known for.
