I've just scrapped three of these, they were in a very very poor state! Whilst the paint was still there, it had come away from the corroded alloy and was only holding itself together. All the screws had sezied in & the threads had turned to dust, they had been leaking inside, the brackets were rusted etc. Almost a shame as they are quite a neat & tidy design and the gear, although Chinese generic with "Germany Technology" (lol) written on it, worked fine & seemed to be of reasonable quality.

I know it’s a bit late now, but did you copper grease the bolts?

Should have grease from the factory or stainless threaded inserts lol. I got mine second hand ages ago, I've never actually used them but was thinking about tidying one up to install. After looking at them closer & finding all that, I changed my mind

The proper UK made ones (pictured in my gallery) are really, really good fittings lol. It’s a shame the chinks decided to copy the design with such poor quality lol. I greased the bolts on this when I installed it but it still didn’t want to play, electrolytic corrosion is unavoidable when you have dissimilar metals with water. I can’t remember what the cover screw holes are like on the UK made ones but on these they are drilled and tapped straight through so water can get at the bolt from above. If they were blind drilled and tapped then that would alleviate the problem of water getting in from behind.

We have the above all over our Trafford site, NVC shit, every one I have re-lamped had to be drilled out, and nut and bolted

Oh, and the ballast winding connections to the blocks tend to come loose, making you think the ballast is dead!!
