Aqua-Signal 1044 internals
1 x Aqua-Signal 1044 24v DC marine fluorescent luminaire for 2 x 20w lamps.

Showing the gear & lamp tray removed. It has a very secure method of securing it to the body of the luminaire!
Pre-wired for loop in/ loop out in very thick 105'c rated cable. Note the solid brass compression glands.
Also note that there are starter and lampholder holes for up to 3 lamps.
The pen marks on the cable and blocks was me when I stripped it down for a good clean. The outside was filthy!

These are incredibly robust IP67 fittings and can be found on ships all over the world.
They are available in a variety of control gear such as 240 and 110v AC in switch-start and HF. They are also, like this one, available in 24vDC.
The luminaire body is available in either 316 stainless or zinc plated steel.

eBay win for £11!!! I bet they are quite a bit more than that when new!

Very robust looking and most of it is metal. Why is it earthed when it's only for 24v?

The fitting is also available in mains voltage AC so maybe the bodies are all made up the same with the only difference being the stickers and control gear. Or maybe the regulations for maritime use are differernt and require it regardless.

Is there anymore on eBay??

Not at the moment I think but you never know with eBay. My original plan was to whack a couple of chokes and starters in this and make it mains voltage but I’m not sure now...
