Bit of maintenance...
...which I was putting off for quite a while!
Had this Insect-O-Cuter ZE122 for quite a few years now and I've been meaning to replace the lamps and give it a good clean because it was in a right state!
The whole thing was covered in grease from all the cooking and was a right sticky mess.
It was still attracting insects but I could tell from looking at her brightly coloured shirts that the UV output had fallen off quite a bit.
Now when she walks in front of this she lights up like a Ukrainian fireman!
Lamps used are proper 15w Sylvania BL368 ones, no chinky shite here!
This is it's third set of lamps with the last ones being installed back in 2015... ouch!
High time for replacement!

I have a 2 x 8w Easyzap insect killer. I think the tubes are meant to be replaced every 9 to 12 months presuming it's on 24/7. I often see them driven till EOL.

The only problem with this is that every now and then, a bumblebee will find it's way inside and after being zapped, it will fall down and come to rest lodged between the grid and the lamp.... Word's can't describe how bad it smells when it's been sat there burning up for a few minutes.....

I've seen bugs get stuck in mine too. It's rare but sometimes they start smoking and arcing and yeah it absolutely stinks! There are other insect killers that don't have an electric grid and instead have a large sticky pad.
