G.W.R brake van signal lamp: lit. You get a reasonable beam out of it. A dedicated front or rear lantern would have a reflector or mirror in it for better single direction performance. Using the original 50+ year old wick!

Nice. I've got one made by Adlake somewhere, originally was gas fed (acetylene?) judging from the burner.
