Thorn Gamma 6 18w SOX: Two years on.
Been up for two years now, doesn't look too bad.
The blackening around the electrodes which was there from new had faded quite a lot since last year and there still doesn't appear to be any sodium loss to the outer jacket.
What appears to be a crack on the discharge tube near the left electrode is just a mark on the inside upon closer inspection.
This was the roughest looking lamp out of my batch of 6 too.

Wow thats looking great for 2 years! Looks like it will last a lot longer too. I hope the 18w Osram that i have fitted round the back in the bulkhead will be as good!

And this gets all night every night use?

Looks better than some 18w SOX I've seen recently. Looks like there's a bit of life left in that yet!

Yeah running dusk dawn.

Doing well then i expected it to look a bit more hammered

Not on igniter gear though. On one of those SRS style Parmar ballasts. Might have something to do with it?
Danny   [22 Jan, 2018 at 07:17 PM]
THATS what im thinking. Maybe the ignitors + the starting probe react with the lamp IR Coating??

Well the open circuit voltage of that ballast is only 330v.
