The SOX Plus uses a standard induction-flash getter, wasn't it always with Red cap ?

yes and no. the hamilton sox plus always had a red cap, but as this was originally introduced for the belgium sox-e lamps (the glass around the cathode inside of the ceramic tube) see james site for details. much earlier turnhout sox had this construction not just sox-e it was changed there long before hamilton around 1993. i think this is the main difference between the original hamilton sox and sox plus
