Crompton Crompack 8' with diffuser A while back I acquired an 8' Crompton Crompack diffuser with my Mazda pop pack. Since that day i'd been on the lookout for an actual 8' Crompack. A fellow collector came up trumps with one, but with missing lamp holders. Thankfully I had spares. Fitting them, that got the fitting working. Today i decided to add the diffuser to take some photos. It looks great imo, and having never seeing one with a diffuser till now, makes this a first for me. The diffuser really don't block too much light, so the fitting still maintained its impeccable light output. I'd love to find somewhere to install it but my chances are slim sadly.

This is the first one I have seen with a diffuser! I don't like diffusers but it is good to see what the fitting looks like with one installed.

It also hides the slightly damaged lamp holder too, method in the madness Wink

Harrison's has some diffusers for these.

It's been decades since I've seen a diffuser on one of these, they had 8ft crompacks that were installed in my primary school in 1979 as part of the 2nd phase of the electrical refit. They were prismatic diffusers instead.

Nice and nostalgic. My workplace until 1996 was lit entirely by 8' Crompacks, but without the fly traps. Wink

My middle school had 4 of these in each classroom. First school had 5' twin Crompacks, also with diffusers. Both installations have been replaced.

I think the diffuser really adds something to the fitting, makes a change from the basic bare lamp versions that you always see. What lengths were the ones in Harrisons Danny? Were there any prismatic ones?

my infants school back in 1978/79 had 8 foot crompacks the same as this with diffusers on hooks and chains off a tall ceiling, they used to swing in the breeze when the large windows were open ! prob the earliest memories of an 8 foot fittings, i installed 3 6 foot versions of these with diffusers the other year in a works container, photos on here somewhere
