Thorn LUD R1065 Invincible
Thorns Mk1 Invincible batten is very distinguishable by its compact construction, and the 6 bowl clips matching that of the Mk2 Thorn Alpha 8. Later ones would see these bowl clips widened by a very considerable amount.
This was salvaged along with a few others by a fellow collector from a petrol station. Upon arrival it was absolutely plastered in years of grime. Apparently this was the only one worth having as the rest were badly damaged. Even so this one still has a small hole in the cover.

Same clips as the ones in the fire stations funny isn't it these from the 70s clips are fine but the ones on the new dexters snap from new!

Its all down to cheap labor and materials. I would much rather have these than brand new stuff today, it all seems as though its guaranteed to fail on you from day one.

Did they do a stainless steel option like Wirefield do?
Dave   [03 Sep, 2015 at 12:22 AM]

They even got gear that could be salvaged? Desperate for some 5' SRS gear! I want everything in my new workshop to run SRS eventually!

Thinking about it there is one left in a kitchen that's pretty mint! Cool

Could it vanish? I mean, be upgraded....

If I get a call to lights in that station anytime soon then yes Very Happy
Slyspark   [21 Feb, 2017 at 05:25 PM]
I'd kill for one of those!

I'm after 2 5' SRS ballasts and caps for the twin tube example that I have. It's vivatronic like but I'd like it SRS preferably.

Not been back to that fire station yet have you Kev?

I have a 2 foot version from ebay but it was already broken. It need lamp holders. To get them going, the bowl is smashed. Other than that quick start gear is mint.
