Simplex Solumbra after first ignition
After sorting the electrics out, the lantern was now ready for firing up. I've always loved opal bowls lit with SOX, and this one didn't disappoint in the slightest. After switching on, the bowl lit up in that familiar, and beautiful ruby red colour. The ballast currently fitted is pretty much silent, and runs lamps up to brightness faultlessly. I've since found a genuine Simplex ballast, so when it arrives, it'll immediately be fitted, returning the lantern to 100% originality once more.

You do not realise how big this is until you see it in person!

I second that, its bloody massive, I wasn't expecting it to be as big as it was when I collected it.

I love looking out the window and seeing my G6 go through this phase Smile
