Osram HQI-T D
I’ve had this lamp for a long time, I actually bought it when I was still living at home! And as a result it has many hundreds of hours on it, all done on mag gear. As a result the tube had completely clouded over, so much so as you couldn’t see the electrodes! Yet here it is now after about 25 odd hours running on one of Pat’s Dyno’s! Unbelievably the effect of now being run on electronic gear seems to be cleaning the tube up!, you can now see the electrodes again if you zoom in! I don’t know if the arc now seems to be running ‘more pure’ on the Dyno, but it’s definitely cleaning the tube in some way? Currently on the energy meter, it’s now running at, 267 Watts, 239 Volts, 1.10 Amps @ 1.00 PF

Interesting. They usually do run at a much higher frequency of a few hundred hertz in a square wave.

I’ve had this happen running SOX on electronic too

Really weird Very Happy?, I’ve never owned any HF gear before for discharge lamps, but I’ve never heard of this either!

I didn't realise they made those HF ballasts that big tbh! I will have to try and source some in 150-250 flavour but they seem to be expensive!
Even 50 and 70w versions seem to be rare.

Come down to the meet in June mark - I have a box of them from Pat can certainly spare you a couple

Rich this does look like a early better quality lamp that’s for sure.

The 250's never got the bulge like the 400's? Would be fun to come to a meet one day but I don't have a car.
