Fitzgerald LP20 in Barbados

Here you see a nice wee Fitzgerald 2ft 20w fitting, spotted in Barbados, fitted with some kind of weird green-capped American T12 tube. I'd say 90% of fluorescent battens I spotted whilst there were Fitzgerald, we must've sent a few containers of them over there at some point. Also saw a few Thorn Pop Packs which were older than the Fitzgerald's.

How strange that they ended up there! At least it's not got an LED tube in it tho

I remember someone at Fitzgerald telling me they sent a ton to the shit stain Middle East too - apparently when the U.K. was ripping out FL from domestic kitchens and fitting GU10 they Middle East had just realised that fluorescents work better in the kitchen.

Good to see Fitzgerald fittings still in service in the Caribbean! Surprised the tube had no etch but it sounds like a Philips Alto, colour 54 by the look of it. Smile

Looks like one of them Philips alto fluorescent tubes.

fascinating! I wonder what control gear it had? Fitzgerald sometimes exported fixtures without control gear that was then fitted by the export countries local importer...

and its interesting to see a Philips Alto tube in there! shame theres no picture of the etch would love to see if its one the export spec ones or not Smile its fun to see this setup of a US tube in a British fixture like this in the wild, its very much something you only normally otherwise see done explicitly by a lighting collector/enthusiast Smile
