Did the lamps turn a funny colour getting that hot? I had that with a twin 58W weatherpack (from the factory as fluorescent), after an hour or two lit the tubes shifted to a dimmer more greenish colour!

Quite interesting to see the heat difference! I have just removed 3 2x18w Weather packs off test in the loft as the shitty plastic kept cracking and they were constantly falling off the roof and they were only fitted new in 2022.. The tubes in them 'Sylvania Luxline Plus 18w 835s have developed some interesting wear marks at the ends but that's probably down to them over heating in the WP's?

Possibly. IIRC max tube wall is supposed to be 40. And the ends here are over 80! Weatherpacks are probably not the best in that regard.
