I had an 8w Genie with that updated packaging and it lasted about the same amount of time as the last generation. Does it seem to reach full brightness any quicker than the older ones?

The Chinese Genie were good lamps, they just kept going!

I've a 11W Genie, but with the hologrphic package. Same with the 8W Genie at my father home.

@Oliver: I just gave it a run up and I'd say it does warm up/reach full brightness faster than the OG 2000s Genie CFLS but not as fast as the 'Essential' CFLS that have those V shaped bent tubes - still a significant improvement especially with the 'rapid start' runner logo
@Angryhorse: Indeed one of the best made Chinese CFLs - a total achievement of a low cost CFL with the lifespan basically matching the premium/master versions - this is why I am on the spree to get as much Genies (and of course the Essential ones too) @dor123: I've also got one of the Philips CFLs that came in a holographic packaging but unfortunately it was in bad condition to the point when I found it at the car boot sale, I thought the CFL would have been smashed but lucily it wasn't the CFL is a daylight one too
