Expect these have been in a while, my local store was done well over a year ago and it took me a long time to notice. A year down the line and all the ones in my store still work!

Could it be someone has manufactured a GOOD LED fitting!? Nah, fake picture! Can't be!

These are retro-fit lamps in the existing highbay fittings. There's another pic somewhere on here I took a while ago and someone has posted the make, etc on that. Can't remember who makes these off the top of my head tho. It's also entirely possible, that the store lamps these themselves and is just very hot on replacing failed lamps, so for all I know, they're crap, but replaced without delay, so you'd never know....

True. When they were Halide, I think I've only ever seen one out a couple of times in all the years I've been going there.

Btw I'm after one of those "ball" gearboxed high-bays with prismatic shades. If anybody sees any for sale I'd be greatfull of a head's up

I will have to check Gateshead Costco to see if they are LED. I went a couple of years back and im sure they were QMH still then

Recently noticed that my local Costco has been re-lit. Gone are the halide fittings with their retrofit LED lamps and in their place, new UFO fittings with prismatic reflectors. Not sure why anyone decided it needed doing, as they all appeared to be working still and the lighting level was good, so seems pretty pointless.

Yeah that's what happened in the Liverpool and Haydock stores. As you say, I don't see the point as the retrofits they were using were excellent!

It happened the same time the Cat 2 fittings in the entry lobby and around the optical counter all got ripped out for LED. Maybe someone pulled the wool over their eyes and told them they needed to replace the 'halide' fittings and they didn't know any better. Seems strange whatever...
