El-cheapo Chinky-Chonky H3 HID kit driver output. Checking out the cheap 55w H3 HID kit on the scope. It was obvious from the photograph of the arcstream that the lamp was being driven by DC, the red hot electrode on one side being a dead giveaway. It claims to be a 55w lamp but as you can see the total power is only 46w.

HID are supposed to run better on DC?
