Gold tubes look amazing. never seen (or owned) one lit, bet its awesome

Atlas gold is rare as hell! I don't think tubes fail with just age? I ran a 1969 osrams on 24/7 for 2 years? Went merc starved?

Begs the question do fluorescents have a shelf life? In theory not as we have seen BC tubes from the 40s still working

Suppose that depends on how and where they are stored. If they are subject to vibration ect.

Nice to see these two side by side. Maybe the BLI would benefit from a good long run for a day or so!

Kev, some do have a shelf life. All of my EKCO 15W T12 Deluxe Warm Whites failed prematurely (worse than incandescent lifetime), dim and useless or proper EOL. I think leakage is the cause in most cases.
