Gold tubes look amazing. never seen (or owned) one lit, bet its awesome

Atlas gold is rare as hell! I don't think tubes fail with just age? I ran a 1969 osrams on 24/7 for 2 years? Went merc starved?

Begs the question do fluorescents have a shelf life? In theory not as we have seen BC tubes from the 40s still working

Kev, some do have a shelf life. All of my EKCO 15W T12 Deluxe Warm Whites failed prematurely (worse than incandescent lifetime), dim and useless or proper EOL. I think leakage is the cause in most cases.
