B&Q Toadstool - gear area before conversion.
This Lights of B&Q Toadstool bollard light, dating back to 2007, is very unique in the fact it takes a 22w circular lamp. The only thing that let down is the HF ballast that cold started the tubes. 9 years after first purchasing it, I decided it was time to switch start it, so gathered the correct things together, made a wiring loom, and ripped the old driver out, and fitted a proper Schwabe ballast, and changed the lamp holder out to one with a built in starter socket. It now strikes perfectly hopefully adding years of life to the lamp, and years of reliability to the fixture.

This is the number one reason I converted it, the cheap and tacky Chinese ballast was cold starting tubes. Whilst its great for banding tubes quickly, it was also great for killing tubes quickly too. For a light this unusual, it wasn't good enough, hence the SS conversion.
