Yup, sadly this really is the kind of shit replacing quality fluorescent
It's not as bad as I was expecting tbh. At least it has a proper power supply instead of the standard capacative dropper that you see in most of the cheap GLS replacements and the LED's themselves aren't being hammered.

It's still not as good as a wire-wound ballast and tube tho! But yea, I've seen worse - like the ones I'm removing in bulk atm which give you a cracking shock if you touch the metal back of the tube.

You're right there of course, can't beat good old fluorescent. Getting shocks off lamps is not good at all! Be interesting to see inside to see whats causing that!

Yes, I must smash a few up - not worth the effort if actually undoing the screws, as you found. Probably the type that no screwdriver actually fits anyway.

I'll be keeping the LED strips tbh, might come in handy for some porject even though the colour is a bit cold.

I've just been dumping the ones I remove in the skip. Horrid things.

Disgusting things.

Agree

Even the worst of the Chinese stuff have mostly went away from the capacitive droppers now. Does not make it any better

The rotating cap are, at least a good idea, a lot of LED tubes don’t do this
