Airport Tunnel Lighting
Quite an old pic from 2013! I've no idea if these are even still here anymore...

The river Bollin runs through a tunnel that goes under runway 05R / 23L at Manchester Ringway Airport.
The tunnel is lit by a number of 70w SON units along the wall, this is a close-up of one of them.
Interesting that there is a magnetic choke but there is no visible ignitor or PFC and instead there is some sort of electronic control unit.
Many are unlit with EOL and leaked lamps, this one looks OK but looks like a connector has come loose.
Never seen gear like this before or since tbh!

Nice. Wonder if thats some sort of dimming unit? Those Osram Lamps are good too they last well

Is that a Venture ballast?

This unit could indeed be a dimming unit, an unplugged connector can just be seen which probably is or was the control signal

Ballast looks like a replacement?

Every single one had the same arrangement.

That's the tunnel shared by river and footpath? We run through that when doing the 'Mobberly Round The Runway' race. I last ran it in 2015. I took photos and there are some blurred views of the tunnel in the album in this link: (...)

........which I see I'm prevented from posting for some reason. Does anyone know how to post links?

For some reason this site doesn’t use the normal (url) (/url) tags. The ones that work Are here.

Yeah, the site is funny with links. There is nothing we can do about that though unfortunately as much as id love it resolved! It must be something to do with the gallery software as they work fine on the forums

Got a closer look at these with the help of a Canon 400mm zoom lens lol.
The fittings are Industria with a model number of 284422.307. The strange control box is made by a company called Technical Support & Supplies LTD and is a Scout System BSCOUT2 which has an RS485 connection. Google turns up nothing for either of them.
