PC LED mod
|
My gaming PC case (Corsair 750D) has both white power and HDD activity LED's.
When the PC is asleep, the power LED flashes and it's quite annoying in the darkened room when I'm chilling in front of the Hi-Fi so I decided to do something about it.
My motherboard has the option of flashing or dual colour mode so that's what I decided to do.
I replaced the white 5mm HDD activity LED with a nice yellow one but when I tried the dual colour 5mm red/green LED's that I have it turned out to be too dim to light up the light guide effectively so I simply took a couple of nice bright green and red 3mm LED's and soldered them together with the polarities reversed. Sorted.
The Ipad camera doesn't capture how deep the colours are tbh. The colours, especially the yellow look really washed out in the picture.
Top pic is the original white (white is the new blue IMO, urgh)
Bellow that is the switch and USB panel removed from the case showing the 5mm LED's
Bellow that is the PC on with the HDD seeking.
Bottom pic is the PC in standby state.
Nice solid red glow is better than a bright white flashing!
