Catastrophic failure of Philips 4' 40W on SRS
I didn't know there was enough energy in 40W gear to cause vacuum loss. If I'd been in the room I would have been too scared and turned it off!

I love it when they go out this way. I've seen it like this plenty of times on 5' tubes but not quite as severe as this on a 4 footer!

Must have been some air rushing in to blow all the phosphor away like that lol.

8 foots do this in minutes. I love doing them but youve got to watch your lamp holder as it can singe it

Yeah, I’ve only seen 8 foots do this too

It's blown debris to the opposite end of the tube. I still can't believe it being only 40W.

I've seen similar when finishing off EOL 4' lamps on a HF instant-start gear ... but still not as good as this one!

they make 800 mA high outpot Instant-start HF sign ballast now.

Only ever seen this happen on 6' tubes Shocked

its not really about how much power the tube is being run at, but just how quickly the air rushes into the tube when the vacuum does fail, so its entirely possible to happen to a 4ft tube on SRS gear Smile
