That will outlast so many modern Philips 18W SOX! I have a Philips XGC001 around the back of my house on a timer switch + photocell, it only does 2000h per year but I seem to be needing to replace the modern lamps every 3 years.

About right James can't you make some at the Belgium SLI factory or do you not have the capability?

I don't have the approximately 75 tons of precisely machined steel parts and control electronics configured in a way costing about £25 million, that is needed for the machinery to make SOX lamps!

I do wonder though...sox lamps have been made in Belgium Holland and 3 factories that I can think of off the top of my head i wonder what happened to all that machineary?

All the Dutch and Belgian machinery has shifted over to Hamilton. Also the IR coating machines from Osram were moved to Hamilton, but the rest scrapped. I am not sure what happened to the GE machinery, but by now it has probably been transformed into fresh steel for car body panels or something like that!

My favorite brand / design of SOX the old GEC / Osrams. They really were a 'Supersox'
