Abacus Orion Induction
You know I've quite forgotten what make and model these are! (Modified Abacus Orion, thanks Dan).
I know Tesco love them and I've seen them burn 400w SON or MBI lamps depending on the store.
ASDA and Morrisons have them but have been retrofitted with induction lamps instead which seems to have annoyed Abacus!
This one is in the Garston branch of Morrisons.

Abacus but i forget the model. I wonder if these were converted to induction from SON
FrontSideBus   [26 Jun, 2019 at 06:10 PM]
Yeah that’s it, lol. They must be conversions as they only list HID or LED versions of this on this on their website. There is also a statement saying they are aware of third-party modifications being made to these fittings and they will not take any liability or responsibility for any said modified luminaries.

Click me. They are not happy lol.

Good. Im pleased theyve put that. Our local tesco theyve removed the SON Lamps for these horrible nasty purpley daylight cheap looking halide lamps that look around 17K

Oh dear. Those Philips 400w CDM-TT’s would look awesome in these.

Laughing this explains everything, I bought this up last year sometime, noting Abacus didn’t list an induction version of its Orion, so my hunch was correct, they were modified by a third party Cool

I can see why they are washing their hands of it tbh. The quite complex reflector system was designed to have a narrow arc tube of a SON or MH lamp in the focal point of the optics. There is no way they are getting the same performance now.

Shame though, I think induction lamps look well in them?, however, the Orion is old hat now, beaten fourfold by what our local Asda has just started using, Sylvania’s Concord Skyline, it’s brighter than the Orion and similar in stylish looks, if not a bit slimmer Cool

Has to be said they suit induction lamps. Funny seeing them having a whinge about competitors cucking them though as if it's some sort of suprise to them Laughing They are great fittings though. Don't look as nice when what Danny said happens to them, see if all too often.

First for me to see induction in these! Our Asda in bletchley run SON while Ikea are HPI. Even the Stadium has HPI with some twin lamps at 400w each, all three places on the same site. Only about year ago they chsnged some to double and quad arms with LED lanterns on. While Mcdonalds side have cob lamps
