Inside the Philips S8 Sunstarter 80-100w

I've tested some of these oddball Philips S8 'Sunstarter' starters today which were removed from a 1988 vintage sunbed, they seem to be just an S16? They operate 6' 70 & 75w & 8' 100 & 125w tubes fine. The only difference I can see is they seem to be a little slower, giving a longer preheat, but this could be due to age or just pure luck that's how they started on the few times I power cycled the fitting.

Note the S16 in the picture for comparison is much newer & bears a CE marks etc

ooo yes beefy contacts on these. Both the S16 and S8 appear to be the same inside the glow bottle
