Hilariously dim 38W Ever Ready 2D
Spotted this just now while queuing to get into an event...this one lamp must be producing about 20% as much light as its neighbours.

The joys of cheapo lamps. Looks like these Thorn Matrix units are starting to be retrofitted with LED downlights now. Think seeing these lamps is a sign of their not being long for this world, has always been GE lamps seen in them when I've been here in previous years.

A lot of the PL-C lamps in the bedrooms have been replaced with (Philips) LED retrofits, likewise the 3' fitting over the bedroom mirror. The twin 4' fittings over the windows are still fluorescent though and still have the comedically loudly growling ballasts on startup.

Reckon this may well be my last report on the lighting in the Livingston Mercure, as our event has well and truly outgrown it now...can't see us managing without either a new venue next year or a limit being put on attendees...shame really as we've a great relationship with the hotel and they basically just hand us the keys on a silver platter for the weekend...getting to that stage with a new venue will take years (we've been here since 2014 if I remember rightly).

Not often you see recessed 2D’s tbh!

Yep...now confirmed that we're "upgrading" from the Mercure Livingston to the Glasgow Crowne Plaza hotel for next year...quite a change in venue! Sadly the new venue is vastly more modern and has been kept very up to date, so little potential for such interesting lighting as we have here. If passing through here again though I'll try to make a point of staying here though as I feel a strong loyalty towards this little hotel.
