From A Storm On June 6th..
|
Its not a light, but I figured an interesting post anyway...
On the 6th of June we got a pretty good storm through here, short lived but certainly packed some powerful winds! 70-80mph gusts!
Left side of the pic is looking up a large elm tree (well half an elm)...right side is the other half, which now resides in a neighbors yard. Can't really tell from the pic, but this thing is 50+ feet tall.
---------------
I'd been watching the storm-system approach on radar (& just looking outside).. plus the weather radio had been giving warnings about a 'very dangerous storm' & saying you should go inside a sturdy building on the lowest level. (in other words go hide in the basement)...
did I do that? Nope. Sure didn't. Once it got close enough, I instead went up to the roof to try & get some storm video
Video'ed a bit of the clouds & such (nothing remarkable, had really hoped to get some good lightning & such, but there really wasn't any). Then the wind started picking up along with light rain & hail. At that point I sat down on the roof, stopped the camera took it off the tripod & headed down .. as I was making my way inside, the wind really hit, to the point it was a bit difficult to walk (there's no way you'd be able to stand up ontop of the house in that - I was on the lower roof with a wall behind me). Just after I got in the thing truly hit, pouring rain & blasting wind! Within maybe 15-20 minutes it was basically over & done.
