Westinghouse F48T12/CW/SHO 110W 4ft Very high output tube
some may recall that many years ago I got 3 of these from ebay from the US (before the global shipping program ruined everything!)

but I dont think I ever uploaded them here, so I figured I should do so while I had one out :)

it is a bright (and hot running) bastard :) its a shame they never made these in triphosphor that would be truly blinding

its been many years since I last lit one, and am doing so in preparation for some other tubes arriving, to see how my constant current ballast setup is doing

these SHO/VHO tubes run at 1.5A and my setup gives me a fairly constant 1.65A so I think that should work nicely (im running 13.6Uf of capacitance in series with a 180W Sun tanning choke, its like a beefed up 125W 8ft circuit)

(it would be ideal for running a 200W SLI/H setup but I sadly dont have one of those in the collection! as they run at 1.6A)

the fluke multimeter is measuring lamp voltage

That looks good but those R17d caps are a pain.

yeah I really do want to get some proper lamp holders at some point! but this works well enough for testing, even if it looks quite dodgy! (due to the way the base is constructed I can fairly securely shove a wire into each contact)
