High quality kit. Such a shame this stuff is not widely available these days.

High quality as long as the cap isn't by Cambridge Capacitors.

Unfortunately it is... Every single Cambridge capacitor that I have ever pulled out of a fitting/lantern has been knackered. I've never had a NOS one though, might have to test it and see how good it is after 31 years of sitting idle lol.

31 year old Cambridge Capacitors PFC, which is supposed to be 5uf tested at 4.9uf. Must only degrade heavily when they are used for a bit.

That's interesting. I've often wondered if the degradation is only when powered up. You've proved it to be so.
