Iwasaki Eye Ignitron 70w SON-T/I lamp etch
A brilliant find recently, this Iwasaki Eye internal ignitor lamp that last saw power 14 and a half years ago. Its of a type I had never seen before, and despite being internal igniter, its able to strike immediately as powers applied. I'm glad I went through to the trouble to save it in the end.
The lamp came from a impromptu rescue attempt where I saved two very beat up Gamma 6's, one of which was totally fucked. They had both lain disconnected and abandoned since August 2007 when the school they were stood outside of was shut down. Despite the vandalism to the buildings, these two lanterns stayed intact, right up till the day the school was bulldozed. It was only when the building works began when both lanterns would become so badly damaged. As I was working on the street lighting on the road that runs past these, and seeing how dangerously loose the lanterns were, I gained permission from the site managers to remove both lanterns for the collection, whilst also using the whole safety spiel as the main reason. Despite their rough conditions, I was able to salvage and make good one of the two lanterns, however one was just too far gone to do anything with. Pics will come in a separate post.
