Coughtrie SG10 Another of the many NOS Coughtrie items I have, the SG10 is a top entry wellglass fitting which has been produced since the 60's. Made with two cover options, clear or opal, these saw massive popularity, with many still installed today. The example in the collection was a lucky find from a car boot. Usually they go for stupid amounts on eBay, but in this case I only paid a few pounds.

I wouldn't mind adding a Coughtrie to my collection but as unlikely to be from Ebay. As you say, nearly always go for silly money.

Car boots sometimes have Coughtries, the SP6 and a pair of FS10's also came from a boot sale.

is this a metric 20mm threaded one or an imperial 3/4 conduit thread? last time i installed a pair of these was on my dads house brand new out the boxes in 1996 ! think they are obsolete now

This is metric thread, although I have one imperial example too, but its missing its clear glass cover.

ive got quiet a few old coughtrie fittings, some new old stock, well glass lights, SW10 and SW6 etc.

think only the SW10 100 watt wellglass is still availble, though the price has now become realistic, as they used to be dirt cheap brand new, think they about £100 for a swan neck corner bracket with Sw10 now, love to see original 3/4 conduit threaded versions though, they are the real classics

I have an imperial SW10 fitted above the back door of our house, great looking fitting too. I too have a few old Coughtries, but I'm always looking for more, absolute design icons imo.

picked up an original boxed PW15 the other year off the bay, its mint, thick glass bowl on chains to hold it whilst you change the lamp, thats a imperial 3/4 one. was pleased to get that as most are metric poly bowl ones
