Fittings appear to be AA4s what is that tube on the right that's banded to hell Nick?

It's the Crompton with the square text box from the early 70s. It's blacker at the other end but no hint of any flicker or asymmetric conduction / partial rectification, ever. Should I take it out of service to preserve it?
