Another as-yet unidentified vintage SO lantern in Liverpool: Close Up.
Just a close up. Looks a little forlorn but give it credit... it is probably 60-70 years old...
I don't at all think the perspex is original and it seems that heat from the lamp has cooked it somewhat.

That's an interesting one, never seen a lantern quite like this before. With a new cover, that would happily soldier on for many more years but I suspect that its days are numbered sadly.

Yep I was told these like the 135w Versions are Wardles nut ho name/ref/catalogue numbers, during the 1960's they were popular areound Liverpool.

During the 1970's and 80s the street lights were upgraded to 135 watt SOX (Philips MA50's) see Photo.




Sadly today Scotland Road is now lit with Philips Luma's

That lantern has survived well though?
