Glad to see you got the lamp in one piece, Re the Date Code = S1 = May 1991 Also yes these lamps are 7250 deg K, and are the same as the OSRAM Powerstar HQI-T 1000W/D which also gives 7250 deg K, Re the dodgy one for £25 on eBay and was Relisted, it arrived today and yest it does look worn but when I lit it the blackness in the Arctube had dissapeared, I think this is due to OSRAM flash Testing the Lamp before packing them.

I should have bought the bloody thing as well then lol. Would be nice to have a new example to compare it with.

Yep I think when people thought it looks absolutely S**gged despite being listed as brand new? may have put doubts on you buying it, then it was sold or relisted, then I seen it and bought the relisted lamp. as uploaded in the photos section. Out of Interest I have a Neutral White Version too "HQI-T 1000W/N" which has a 3350 deg K Colour Temperature. I shall upload a photo of it.

This certainly has an interesting colour! At first it is very bluish but after a while you get used to it and then cool white seems like SOX LOL!
