Have always loved the Thorn etch.

Agreed. The Thorn etch is so very distinctive and can be recognised far away when even the text is unreadable. There is a museum in my town that underwent a full refurbishment but a couple of the rooms are still lit by Thorn Pluslux tubes. They must have done several tens of thousands of hours.
