Were a very common sight in the 70s and 80s, especially in track spotlights in shop displays. They fell out of favour when halogen spots came along in the 80s. Always liked them.

I've just seen an LED filament version of the crown siver GLS lamp but made by Sylvania and other brands - so there must be some aesthetic purpose they still serve for the LED era we are in
