Festoon lighting
Here I have two sets of 40 festoon lighting new and unused. I got these for a bargain last year. If I remember correctly I bought these for like 30 quid delivered for all of it. they were new boxed just I removed them to put into the plastic storage box. the lamps aren't the best of quality but what do you want for 30 quid.

I bought a Festoon set myself earlier this year which will be going up soon for Chrismas. Should fair up better than the LED sets where water always gets to the LEDs and rust them after one season of usage. Sad

I'd love to stick these up but they quite long and i cant imagine itll be cheap leccy wise with 80 lamps on the go. Atleast i have them incase i do decide one day to install them.

Need to try get them sets on that pub do you know if there's any way of contacting the owner
RobTDCI   [08 Nov, 2015 at 06:32 PM]
Yeah, the electric for these will be considerably more than the LED sets, mine are 25w x 10 so 250w. They will only be on for a few hours in the evening for a few weeks though so not too bad.

Wonder if it's worth getting some sort of Coloured led Gls lamps it'd be ne good me putting mine up as they'd get battered by the winds. And the lamps would get smashed

If you had them on for 4 hours rob it would only cost you about 15 pence so say 15 pence a night for 6 weeks = about £6.50! Then again I've just negotiated a new electricity tariff for the farm at 9.94 pence per kWh that will be a hell of a difference compared to the 14.89 I am currently on with EDF!

id do a set of 10 no bother but theres two sets of 40 here. it would probably cost a small fortune to get led lamps for these and i dont think i could run led in them to be honest. these need to be kept for filament lamps only. rarely see festoon now these days. danny if you want the oneson the pub i told you last night who owns it and it is getting demolished to build houses on.

Very nice looking lights Cool
I've gone to mostly small LEDs for xmas, but do still use some incandescent mini's...

You know a while ago I used to look after a certain shop and on the top floor is where they used to keep all the Christmas decorations at one point, there were boxes and boxes of crompton Harlequin coloured GLS lamps loads of them!!!! I could of whipped the lot and no one would know!
Kev   [09 Nov, 2015 at 08:36 AM]
When I say loads I mean hundreds possibly thousands all in the old 80s boxes!
jonny-m   [09 Nov, 2015 at 04:55 PM]
Would have been nice to make a box or two go missing kev lol.
Kev   [09 Nov, 2015 at 06:15 PM]
TBH I wouldn't of stopped at the just a box or 2 the lot had been there for years! I'd of taken the fucking lot and then said sorry thought they were old and skipped them as I used to go there to do the lighting anyway
XmasLightGuy   [10 Nov, 2015 at 04:50 AM]
@Kev: Hundresd of sets of lights... um... I have to admit I myself do have hundreds of sets Shocked (difference ofcourse being its all standard incandescent mini's, and LEDs)
Gotta love those 50%,75%,and especially 90%-off after-Christmas sales! Cool
Kev   [10 Nov, 2015 at 08:59 AM]
@jay they weren't sets they were just the coloured lamps! Proper quality old ones though
XmasLightGuy   [11 Nov, 2015 at 03:55 AM]
@Kev: still nice! I wouldn't actually do it, but the temptation to make a box of those "disappear" would be there LOL Laughing
