Home brew Mini Egg crate 6w fitting
There have been a few 50s style fittings with egg crate diffusers posted recently so it got me thinking how I could make a fitting based on those fittings. The egg crate is what can be used in fish aquariums with white sign perspex welded to make up the sides. The rest of the fitting is made up by bending sheet aluminium. The ballast is Smart and Brown, probably 70s. The first ballast I ever owned when I was 9 is one of these.

That looks really good. You're really good at making fittings from scratch. I generally do t make things from scratch as I do t have the patience anymore but I do love to modify fittings to run lamp types they don't normally run etc.

You've done a great job on this, very large ballast for such a small tube Cool

Thanks guys! Seen some of your work Jonny, looks pretty good, always neat wiring! It's a great ballast this, very quiet and runs cool.

Could do with a nice old glow starter to keep it in keeping with the rest of the fitting lol

Yes I agree, a glow starter would suit this better, this is the first one that came to hand at the time.
