Late-model 35w Thorn Beta 5/SOXpak lantern
Kindly given to me by a friend yesterday - despite quite possibly being the UK's most widespread SOX lantern, I didn't yet have one of these, and only 1 or 2 were ever publicly installed in Cambridge, with most examples being privately-owned. This particular example is a "SOXpak" instead of a "Beta 5", which is identical but was marketed for security lighting instead of street lighting.

There was one used for a streetlight in my area where my parents house is, had that exact deep bowl and shallow canopy like yours! Now it makes sense of the design that is making it look like a floodlight for amenity applications

Interesting, never seen that lamp holder in a later one of these before? Smile
