GEC Z9533 (unfortunately retrofitted) former SOX lantern
Spotted today in the rather desolate landscape of the Fens, where Cambridgeshire borders Norfolk - practically ever village in that small region has decided to retain their original SOX lanterns, but unfortunately I didn't spot a single example without a LED retrofit lamp fitted... I suppose the old lanterns will at least survive a little longer at least.

Looks good in the day, probably as good as can be done nowadays (except retrofitting to SON if the bowl is wide enough to not overheat). Hope they have a stash of spare lanterns for the occasional weather/corrosion damage cases

Looks like a 20 watt cob? Smile , these always look like someone stuck an 18 watt Genie in by mistake Rolling Eyes

Would you prefer a "vintage" wicked LED filament thing with same length as a proper SOX ?

Back before they started going the same way as SOX (and any other lamp not LED) I would have always suggested converting a SOX lantern to PL-L. A 36W lamp is very similar in length to a 55W SOX lamp and would work almost perfectly with the lantern's optics designed for SOX.
