late 1950's East german hanging fitting
|
Here you can see a cast aluminium hanging streetlight most likely manufactured in the late 1950's for the city of dresden. It consists of a cast aluminium housing and a glass refractor that is open on the bottom. It is intended to be mounted on a steel cable. The fitting does not have any chokes and is intended to run on two GLS lamps. Leter only one lamp was used and a choke and ignitor was stuffed in the housing in order to operate it with 70W SON lamp.
This particular ffiting has been beed blasted and wired for two GLS lamps. It is run with two 24.5W (200W equivalent) Frosted LEDVANCE filament LED lamps in my basement. The test bench project can be seen on the right hand side.
