Those (also come branded as "Teka Sheka") are the worst of the lot by far, in T8 too. Buy any other chinese noname, itll be better

I think of all the 8W bug zapper tubes about now Philips would still be the best, and despite that they are actually not that much more expensive than some of the cheapo ones, or in some cases cheaper than those!

I've two Philips Polish 8W blacklight lamps in my bug zapper, and they lasting well, but the phosphor coating degrading.

The Philips ones will probably last long enough for that to happen and the "change annually" instruction to be valid while the cheapo ones won't last long enough to get to phosphor degradation.

The FSL ones lasts several months.

FSL make decent lamps, and even if it does not come out great every time, they are definitely trying. The ones pictured here were never meant to work at all, they are pitiful waste of the resources that were wasted on making them

I'm still buying in Philips branded 8w for bug zappers. Still easy enough to get. The thing I'm now struggling with are the S2 starters to actually make them work
dor123   [07 Aug, 2026 at 07:34 AM]
Why the UVA phosphor, degrades so fast, compared to most visible light phosphors.

Are starters falling under any bans ? Couldnt you just buy some online ?
Slyspark   [07 Aug, 2026 at 09:20 AM]
I don't think they are banned, just wholesalers have stopped stocking them and manufacturers seem to largely have given up. A shame, given that 8w tubes are not actually banned.

Over here we are currently getting GE 155/200 and 155/500 (China), before them we were getting the Osram ST151/111 LONGLIFE (which say LONGLIFE on the starter) (China, which became the official Osram starter after they closed everything in Germany)
