Atleast the ends might not fall off the bottom one ! Guess the glass could chip though

Osram invested millions in this design! All a big cost cutting exercise would be interesting to do a life test on them! Both next to each other!

I'd put money on the new one. No pinch seal or exhaust tube to fail.

Germany still. At lest these ones are. The new arc tube looks like it's had quite a bit of engineering gone into it!

The Excellence one has the big advantage of a formed body arc tube, which brings higher efficacy and better colour than the original. Its also tipless for better colour consistency. And ceramic-like colour stability during life thanks to eliminating metal wires from the outer bulb. Plus mechanically more robust, and no more radioactive gas filling either. I am not convinced it would be so much cheaper than the original, but for sure the quality will be much better on a number of levels.
