I ran out of every day use tubes. Using F96T12/CW philip alto lamp
|
I am using American 110 watts philip alto. RDC end caps removed to reveal bipin endcaps. F96T12 halophospate Cool White tube 4100k, I had to Change the cap
To 5.5 uF to reduce lamp current close to 800 mA, so ballast dont run hot cause overdriving the tube. As result the Choke ran cooler properly feeding the correct current for American HO 8 foot lamp. Also my step up tranny ran cooler too. I think u guys need to import American 8 footer to keep those existing pop pack alive, philips or silvania that have removable RDC converter. GE is better tubes of all but u cant change to Bi pin easly. U might have to change value of cap accordingly cuase i am from USA. So have different phase angle of the current. That when a current meter comes in handy.

Interesting... so if I change out the 7.2uf cap on mine for a 5.5uf, I could run a 8' 110w lamp without it overheating? (not that I mind the 100w 7-footer which needs no cap, I kinda like it anyway could be interesting to see how long it lasts...)
Have you ever tried a HO T8 to see if it'll light? (I have yet to find or even see one of those lamps locally)
It would be awesome if someone could figure out doing a 8' T8 on switchstart!
