I was going to use one of these in a cheap 400w halide flood with the gear ripped out for a mate who need a lot of instant light outside his garage.

Are these still actually available? I have been having trouble getting decent halogen lamps for the fire stations were they need instant light the GE ones are now China and last 5 minutes and I don't think Philips or osram make them anymore? Question

I should think so as they use LOADS of them on the ocean liner Queen Mary 2 and probably a whole load of other cruise ships!

What these or general halogen lamps?

These in big solid Aqua-Signal floodlights! I'll upload a pic. In an emergency on a ship, you want instant light and you don't want discharge lights extingusishing from fluctuations in the power supply!
