United lights Rainbow 2X18w
One of the most unusual, and seemingly rarest fluorescent fittings I have to date, United Lights was a company based in London. The fitting depicted here came in White, Black, wood effect and any colour of your choice, hence being called the Rainbow. Servicing is a doddle, there are 4 small rings that hide the lamp holders that you need to pull off before you can pull the tube out. Installation isnt easy though, since you have to pull of the plastic centre cover to access the base plate, which also houses the starters and ballast.
All in all a very interesting fitting.

The gear box looks a bit art deco design. Any idea of the era?

Cool find. Really unique looking fitting! when I saw the name 'rainbow' I was thinking maybe you found something that had those lamps with more than one colour...I was all ready to say "this requires a lit pic" LOL

Tbh I don't know why they called the entire range rainbow, this clearly is colourful enough to warrant being called rainbow Laughing

LOL.. but it would be the perfect fitting for displaying a pair of coloured tubes in... especially if you got one that matched the light colour!

Extremely common in the 90's in Israel. I wouldn't be surprised if you find some Mini N40 or Eco 36.60.60 gear inside
