6 Crappy Random Fluorescents...

Got these today, 6 random 2-lamp fluorescent fittings; One is T12 rapid-start magnetic, the rest are all HF T8 (although some say they'll run both sizes, they just underdrive T12's). No idea if any of them work (I was told they do though)

The cost for this pile of 'junk'? ... $0 ... for that I had to take them . LOL

All went straight to the backyard for a pic, then got moved so they are leaning against the side of the house where they will remain til atleast spring (minus lamps that got cleaned & brought inside)

And yep..thats alittle mound of ice there at the top of the pic. (normally this whole area would be covered with ice/snow at this time of year) but wouldn't be surprised if the ground in this part of the yard is still frozen too..

Yuck i am not a big fan of wrap around fitting. But good to test and harvest ballast out of them.

FSB i have a lithonia 2x 4 troffer that been sitting out side for 4 years also being HF it been rained on countless times.

They might get a bit of surface rust...just on any unpainted edges. I've also got a troffer that's been sitting out for for over a year, and basically no rust...it like these is under an overhang, so is -somewhat- protected, but still gets some rain/snow. I think the biggest reason for things like this not rusting quickly here is the fact that its a dry climate -- we don't normally get much rain or snow, and even more than that 'normal' humidity is less than 20%, and even dips into single digit values.

@Funkybulb: I'm fine with wraparound fittings (even with the cover missing), a couple of these were also those "lightpuff" type (I binned the one broken cover, all others were already missing).
Basically these can be just shop-lights for a garage. If my brother still wants/needs shop-lights for his garage, I'm gonna see if he wants these. I might just 'gut' some for parts & dump the metal in my to be recycled pile since a couple are damaged.

But I didn't really look anything over real well to check out quality of construction & such... just unloaded, grought around to backyard, snapped pics, removed lamps & moved them to side of house.

For free I have no complaints though, especially if they work.
