Yeh I noticed that on my tunnels the 140W cosmo is pretty much at full power when the CDM-TD is probably still under half!!!!

The Cosmo`s a better design for a halide lamp.

Yeap exactly, far more better but not very widely used over here in my country sadly. Very rare to find them

Never realised that magnetic gear existed for Cosmos. Was it a one piece gear unit?

I read somewhere thst Cosmo was designed specifically for electronic gear. Something to do with the high-frequency operation causing less thermal stress on the electrodes which allows them to make the electrodes far smaller which eliminates a big chunk of losses in that area. They probably don't last as long on mag gear so it was discontinued quickly.

When I first heard we were getting cosmo in Cornwall I did a bit of research on cosmo lamps and found a site somewhere that had the ballasts and ignitors listed throughout the range, they were the light grey types, I've never been able to find the site again but remember reading that almost every install used the electronic ballasts.
