Yup, 1970's or very early 80's Bomb proof these, I've only ever replaced one and that had had some serious abuse!

Replaced one about 4 months ago that would intermittently work think there is a problem on the connections. Other than that only ever seen one down to earth! As rich says brilliant!

I've never seen one of these new old stock, excellent find. I've got a 5ft variant in my cupboard at work that has had a bad connection on the terminal (plastic blackened), but still works fine. I've got another 5ft one in my garage in use that's done meaga, mega hours, it was removed from service a couple of years ago and had been on 24/7, it's darkened and a bit vocal, but also still works fine.

I found a NOS version in a fire station a couple years back!

were these open type with the plastic push in terminals better than the old potted rounded corner type with the push on brass barrel pin connectors? personally i thought the older type were better, as the push on plastic terminations are a weak link on them, many 35w sox ones have burnt out on the terminations and the 35 sox ballast looks visually identical to a 5 foot tube choke from the 80's

I’ve had a good few of the old rounded corner type for fluorescent go bang over the years these late 70s type I think I’ve come across one or 2 ever fuck up!
